Entertaining On A Budget

By 9:25 PM

Are you having a backyard BBQ or a casual Sunday brunch with a few friends and don't want to break the bank ? Well this blog was created with you in mind ... Planning a party can be  stressful and very expensive but these few items will allow you to have a good time without being tapped  out!

Invitations dont always have to be elaborate they can just be words on pretty card stock ... Or your can buy a box set from your local target or walmart and print them at home . But if you want to go even cheaper create a evite which is super easy and super FREE!
When I host events I try to always have a variety of libations ... I would have beer , wine and vodka ! I would spend a couple hundred dollars just to make sure that I had the perfect mixture for all my guest .. But a few things happened , people still complained about my selections  and after the party I was left with half drunken bottles and empty pockets! So here is a money saving tip... Make signature cocktail ... Whether it be a punch or a sangria ..it doesn't take much to make and your guest will be happy and pockets will be  happier !
Wine glasses ... I know your thinking how can these be cheap ? Well if you buy them in bulk from IKEA or the dollar tree you won't be mad when a guest accidently breaks one ... They may be cheap but they serve their purpose... And by buying in bulk you will never run out!
The Mason Jar!!!! Mason jars are so versatile they can be used as a drinking glass or as a container but my fav is when they are used as centerpieces !!! Also very inexpensive to purchase !

The wooden charger !!! Now a wooden charger does not need to be at every function but the charger adds another layer of class .. It makes your plate stand out ... Wanna save money put the chargers under your serving dishes instead of your guests plates... this way you can buy piece by piece instead of one for each guest !
White serveware!!! White is so classic it never goes out of style ... You can use it season after season and each time create a new look! I used to buy seasonal / holiday serveware because I wanted them to match my theme . Then I did the math and  I have spent hundreds of dollars on things that can be only used a few times a year!
Cocktails napkins are a fun and inexpensive way to add color to your event ... They can be found at any party supply store or dollar store. Here's a tip : shop the clearance section ... The napkins may be  from last season but at least you can have them for next year!
Tea lights!!! This is another item that can be purchased without spending a lot of money!!! I always buy extra of these ... They create the perfect amount of lighting to your event!

When you are planning on a budget ... Centerpieces need to be simple yet elegant and not expensive !!! Cut up fruit in slices or in half add water to vase and to top it off add a few flowers ( the best flowers will be one that has a fuller bloom like the hydrangea).

When planning any type of event remember not to break the bank and keep in mind that you must live after this .
